Vessel

Vessel renders Seoul as circulation rather than image. Drawing on a year of living-mobility records—more than eight million movements each day—the installation reconstructs the inflow, outflow, and internal movement of the city's 25 districts at one-minute resolution.

Each district becomes a data-defined form. Total population flow determines its thickness; the proportion of each movement type determines the length of its components; and measured travel speed controls the pace of their visual movement. Together, these forms produce a continuous panoramic pulse whose structure changes with the time of day.

Visitors can rotate the city and move through its timeline using a touchpad. A pulse sensor introduces a second timescale: with each heartbeat, the dataset advances by one day. The body becomes an instrument for navigating the city, bringing an immense civic system into a direct, physical rhythm.
